Nice 1963 Plymouth dashboard, complete with radar detector. My first two cars (Dodges) had the pushbutton control and it worked pretty well except at the dragstrip. I used the buttons to hold the engine in first and second for a bit longer in the lower gears. The problem I had was that there was an override in the Torqueflite trans that upshifted between second and third (three-speed automatic) at 70mph regardless of the selected button. I did not know that, or that experienced Mopar drag racers either disabled that feature and some had even converted the shift to a floor lever shift for even better/faster control. So in my first ever legal drag race I was neck and neck with the Plymouth in the other lane, even briefly pulling a half fender ahead when when my transmission upshifted to third too early and my opponent pulled ahead of me because he was still getting more revs and power out of his car. Even with that he didn't win by much, but a win is a win by .001 or 10 seconds.
